History of Spee-dee Delivery Company.

Spee-Dee, like many successful businesses, started out small. Donald Weeres, a determined 35-year-old farm boy from Richmond, Minnesota, started Spee-Dee in 1978. Donald used his pickup truck to deliver packages to local businesses. Spee-Dee actually started out as an on-call courier service. His goal was to establish a different overnight delivery service with superior services at a lower cost than the competition.

Even after more than four decades, Spee-Dee still adheres to the tenet of providing affordable, high-quality overnight service.

Over 12,000 shippers in nine states now benefit from Spee-Dee’s overnight package delivery service, which is dependable and affordable. Customers of the company rely on them to handle over 70,000 important packages per day. Spee-Dee has grown from its humble beginnings to employing more than 1,800 people and employing over 1,300 pieces of equipment to deliver packages daily.

Customers with a standard account receive the Spee-Dee Ship software for free and can select between weekly, biweekly, or monthly billing.

On-Call Pick-Up Service: Businesses and individuals who ship less than four times per month can benefit from this service. Depending on availability, Spee-Dee offers same-day pickups as well as next-day pick-ups throughout its entire service area. The company’s standard transit days are adhered to by the packages.

The advantages of using this service are;

Spee-Dee EZR: Spee-Dee has a unique program that makes returns simple. Customers can track their returns on the Spee-Dee website and print their own labels with Spee-Dee EZR.

Spee-Dee LTL (Less than Truckload) Freight Delivery: The rates offered by Spee-Dee Delivery are determined by the position of the pallet, not by class or commodity. The same zones (distance) that are used to price parcel shipments also determine our rates.

Spee-Dee Delivery also handles non-palletized LTL shipments in addition to the standard pallet.

EZR Labels

Spee-Dee Software must be activated by their IT team in order to produce EZR labels. The main account can print labels in batches and send them to customers as return labels. The pick-up location, return address, and unique tracking number are all contained on EZR labels, which cannot be duplicated.

EZR return programs

  • Basic Program: For clients who frequently ship to a consignee.
  • Enhanced EZR is for customers who do not regularly ship to a consignee. To notify the driver of a pick-up, a request for a pick-up form must be sent via email or fax. There is an additional package fee of $3.50, which becomes $4.00 on January 1, 2023.
  • EZR Pick-Up Account: If 10 or more locations follow a regular pick-up schedule, the EZR Pick-Up Account charges an $8 weekly fee per location. If there are fewer than ten locations that are regularly picked up, a pick-up fee of $12 per week and per location is applied.
