This acquisition was supposed to help x marks survive because of the financial trouble the company was going through. The two services actually remain separate after the acquisition but premium prices were reduced for customers who used the tool services. LastPass later shut down X marks on May 1st 2018.
Logmeln Inc. Acquired LastPass for $110 million on the 9th of October 2015. LastPass has paired with Meldium a similar product which was also acquired by Logmeln Inc.
On the 3rd of February 2016, LastPass unveiled a new logo. This was due to the lawsuit filed in early 2015 by the company called ETrade whose logo featured an asterisk like the Lastpass logo. By March, the company released a two-factor authentication app for all its plan. By August 2017, the LastPass family plan was announced by the company to enable family members to share passwords. 1password Integrates with desktop web browsers like Chrome, Safari, Firefox, edge and opera. This extension can remember the login for websites, Automatically fill websites which the loggings and also generate random passwords for new websites.
To use its browser extensions, the user has to have admin rights on the computer where the browser is installed. This actually turned out to be a major problem for people with work-assigned PC whereby they don’t have admin rights. 1password addressed this issue by offering a monthly subscription plan, aimed at businesses which allow web access to their usernames and passwords that can be copied and pasted through login screens. The company also has plans for families and individuals.

The funding was led by Iconiq Growth with notable individual investors such as Ryan Reynolds, Robert Downey junior, and Justin Timberlake. In March, Ryan Reynolds starred in a commercial for the company from his creative agency, Maximum Effort which featured the Welsh soccer club he owns.
